History

Like many other churches, Calvary didn’t just magically appear one day. Instead, we have a long, rich history in our community spanning many decades starting way back in 1934. From its early days as a store front mission on Kent Street under the leadership of Sister Cunningham, to its downtown location on 55 Glenelg Street under the ministry of Bill & Helen Churchhill to its relocation in 1986 under the leadership of Pastor David Strome to its current location at 125 Victoria Ave. N, Calvary has always been a community that has welcomed saint and sinner for almost 90 years! Nothing about that has changed as we navigate the post-Covid reality with grace and passion.  We continue to be a community of faith where the Holy Spirit is welcome to make us be His people in this world.
